I regularly look after a good friend's dog. We often go out together – from a morning walk through the woods to chilling on the couch. A typical day with my dog
The day usually starts with a walk. On rainy days, that quickly turns into a muddy adventure. His fur absorbs moisture and odor, and as soon as he jumps in the car, I know: this will be another thorough freshening up. At home, he lies on his blanket, dries himself – and in the meantime also leaves his scent in the hall, living room, and bed.
In the afternoon, he prefers to lie on the couch, close to me. Cozy, but the cushions also absorb the scent. And when visitors come, I suddenly become extra aware of the smell in the house. Is that… dog?
